News: Truck collision in Albuquerque knocks down statue

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A truck collision in Downtown Albuquerque Monday afternoon knocked down a popular statue, according to the Albq Journal.

The incident happened in the vicinity of Lomas Boulevard NW and Fourth Street NW at about 12:45 p.m.  Police said the driver of a Dodge Durango pickup truck collided with a Parks and Recreation Department truck that was entering the intersection.  The pickup veered off the road and into the parking lot of Sunwest Silver Co., where it struck a 10-foot tall Iron Man statue that then toppled onto the roof of the Dodge.

No one was injured in the wreck, but the trucks and the statue were damaged.

Iron Man, a Marvel Comic superhero, is among three Marvel statues in the parking lot of Sunwest Silver, a jewelry business.  A store manager said they would try to have Iron Man repaired and put back in place, our Albuquerque auto accident attorney adds.
