News: Woman pleads guilty in Albuquerque accident that injured child

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A woman who was charged in connection with a car crash in Albuquerque has pleaded guilty in the case, KRQE reports.

Authorities said 42-year-old Nicole Vargas was driving drunk when the accident occurred in January 22 at the intersection of Wyoming Boulevard and Marquette Avenue.  Vargas was reported to have been speeding and going through red lights when she crashed into the car of an Albuquerque family.

Two occupants of the other car, a man and his 2-year-old daughter, were seriously injured in the wreck.  Last week Vargas entered into a plea arrangment in which she pleaded guilty to one count of great bodily harm by vehicle.  Another count on the same charge was dropped.

Vargas will face up to three years in prison when she is sentenced, our Albuquerque car accident attorney adds.
