So my application (or appeal) has been filed – what happens next?

Filed

Once your application (or appeal) has been filed, your intake analyst at Keller & Keller will fax the representation paperwork (Form SSA-1696 – Claimant’s Appointment of a Representative) to the appropriate Social Security Field Office, letting the Social Security Administration know Keller & Keller will be representing you moving forward.  We will diligently check the status of this form, but it typically takes approximately one to two months for the Social Security Administration to add us to your claim.  If you have any questions, you can always contact the intake analyst who filed your claim or appeal – we are happy to clarify and assist you along the way.

Keller & Keller Attached to Claim

After the Social Security Administration processes and accepts Keller & Keller as your representative, we will be attached to your claim in the Social Security Administration’s system and begin receiving the same mailed notices you receive, along with access to your electronic case file.  At that point in time, your case with Keller & Keller will be assigned a case manager, who will serve as your primary point of contact with us for the duration of your case. Your case manager can check the status of your case, give you crucial updates, receive and submit medical updates, and provide basic guidance and support to you while your case is pending.
