Semi-truck crash on I-74 leaves 1 dead, 1 injured.

FOUNTAIN COUNTY, IN - A pickup truck and a semi-truck were involved in a deadly collision in Fountain County on Thursday afternoon, WISH TV reports.

The wreck took place along Interstate 74 near the 23-mile marker shortly before 4:30 p.m.  Indiana State Police said the driver of a 2004 Ford F-150 lost control of the vehicle while heading west.  The pickup crossed the median, overturned and entered the eastbound lanes where it was struck by an eastbound semi-truck trailer.

The Ford ended up in the left lane of the interstate and caught fire, while the semi came to a stop in a ditch.   The Ford driver died at the scene.  The semi-truck driver, 51-year-old Thomas Connolly of Buckeye, Arizona, was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
