On May 30, our New Mexico team joined athletes, families, coaches, and fellow volunteers at the Special Olympics New Mexico State Summer Games, held at the University of New Mexico’s Track and Field Stadium in Albuquerque. The three‑day Games (May 29–31) brought together competitors from across the state for track and field and other Olympic‑style events, showcasing the power of inclusion and sport.
Special Olympics New Mexico provides year‑round sports training and athletic competition in multiple Olympic‑type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, creating opportunities to develop physical fitness, build confidence, and experience joy alongside their communities. Keller Cares exists to support exactly these kinds of organizations—ones that strengthen our communities and champion dignity, access, and respect for every person.
Why Special Olympics Matters to Keller & Keller
Special Olympics is powered by volunteers—people who give their time as event hosts, officials, medical staff, and cheerleaders in the stands. For our Keller & Keller New Mexico team, spending the day at the State Summer Games was a chance to stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder with families, celebrate athletes’ hard work, and live out our commitment to service that extends far beyond the courtroom.
Around the world, Special Olympics’ volunteer force is often called the backbone of the movement, because they make it possible to host safe, high‑quality competitions and health programs at no cost to athletes. That aligns closely with the values behind Keller Cares: showing up, investing time and resources, and using our platform to elevate organizations that remove barriers for people with disabilities.
A Day of Competition, Inclusion, and Joy
Throughout the day at UNM, our volunteers helped welcome athletes, supported event logistics, and—most importantly—cheered on competitors as they crossed finish lines and reached new personal bests. The 2026 State Summer Games brought together hundreds of athletes and unified partners from across New Mexico, highlighting the unifying power of sports and the deep community support around Special Olympics.
From the opening moments on the track to medal ceremonies and high‑fives at the finish lines, you could feel the energy and pride in every event. For many athletes, the State Summer Games are the culmination of months of training and local competitions organized by Special Olympics New Mexico and its partners. Being a small part of that journey is an honor for our firm and a meaningful way to connect with the people we serve.
How Keller Cares Supports Our New Mexico Community
Keller Cares is our firm‑wide initiative focused on investing in the communities we call home through service, sponsorships, and long‑term partnerships. In New Mexico, that means supporting organizations like Special Olympics New Mexico that create inclusive opportunities and promote health, confidence, and independence for people with intellectual disabilities.
By volunteering at the State Summer Games and highlighting this event, we hope to encourage more members of the public to get involved—whether by volunteering at local competitions, supporting athletes as fans, or contributing to Special Olympics programs throughout the year. Keller Cares is about more than a single day of service; it is our ongoing commitment to stand with community partners who make New Mexico stronger.
