Driver dies crashing into dump truck in Indy lot

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indianapolis police officers responded to a fatal collision Monday morning on the city's west side, according to WTHR.

The incident occurred in the 4700 block of West Morris Street near Interstate 70 just after 6 a.m.  Police said the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck was driving south on a business lot and crashed into a parked dump truck that was not occupied.  The Chevrolet driver lost control and left the lot near a business fence line, where the vehicle wound up in a ditch.

The driver, believed to have been a security guard at the business, was found dead inside the pickup.

The area of West Morris Street and Vandalia Avenue was shut down while the crash was being cleared and investigated.
