Pedestrian fatally struck in Indianapolis hit-and-run incident

INDIANAPOLIS, IN –  Police said a woman was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver near the east side of Indianapolis early Monday morning.

WTHR reports the crash occurred on East Michigan Street near Woodruff Place at about 2 a.m.  Investigators said 28-year-old Alexis N. Davis was walking across the roadway when she was struck by a westbound Jeep.

Davis, a mother of five, was pronounced dead after being taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital.  The driver of the Jeep left the scene without providing any aid to the victim.

Later in the day, police said they had located a possible suspect as well as the vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident, describing it as a silver 2010-2017 Jeep Patriot.
