1 driver dead, 1 injured in wreck on far east side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A two-vehicle collision left a driver dead and caused road closures on the far east side of Indianapolis Wednesday morning, WTHR reported.

The crash occurred in the area of South Carroll Road and Brookville Road near the borders of Hancock County and Marion County.  Officers arriving at about 6:30 a.m. found one of the drivers dead at the scene.  The other driver was listed in stable condition after being taken to an area hospital.  No one else was in the two vehicles.  The collision also toppled a traffic signal pole.

U.S. 52 was shut down in both diretions while the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department investigated the incident.  Portions of Brookville Road and South Carroll Road were also closed.  Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.
