15-vehicle crash reported during snowy conditions on U.S. 60/84

TEXICO, NM - Authorities in Curry County reported a crash involving 15 vehicles after wintry weather caused hazardous road conditions on Monday afternoon.

According to The Eastern New Mexico News, the accident happened along U.S. 60/84 west of Texico and was caused by blowing snow in the area.  At least one person was seriously injured.  Westbound traffic on the highway was shut down until 6:45, while eastbound lanes were closed until 9 p.m.

Dozens of other crashes took place Monday afternoon in eastern New Mexico after the snowstorm caused whiteout conditions and slick roadways.
