SANTA FE, NM - An alleged drunk driver is facing charges following an accident in Santa Fe on Friday that left two children injured, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.
The crash took place at the intersection of Galisteo Road and Rodeo Road at about 2 p.m. Police said 36-year-old Dylan Michael Ortiz Delgado of Santa Fe was reported to be driving recklessly and passing other vehicles on the shoulder of the road when he crashed into a vehicle occupied by one adult and two children.
The children, approximately 7 and 9, were transported to an area hospital, and one of them was subsequently flown to a hospital in Albuquerque in critical but stable condition.
Delgado was arrested at the scene following a struggle and now faces charges of driving under the influence and causing great bodily harm, reckless driving and attempting to disarm a police officer.
It was reported that Delgado pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence in 2017 and pleaded no contest to the same charge in 2008.
