INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene of a deadly crash on the far east side of Indianapolis on Thursday night, WISH reports.
The incident happened on Interstate 70 between Mitthoefer Road and German Church Road at about 7:38 p.m. Authorities said an SUV collided with a semitractor-trailer in the westbound lanes of I-70. Two people were killed in the wreck. No information was immediately released on the identities of the victims.
All westbound lanes of I-70 were shut down, with traffic diverted at the exit for Mount Comfort. Fire crews were cleaning a chemical spill resulting from the accident.
An investigation by the Indiana State Police is underway.
