2 injured when vehicle crashes into gas station in Greensburg

GREENSBURG, IN -  Police said a car crashed into a gas station in Decatur County on Monday morning, leaving two people injured.

According to WXIN, the incident occurred at the Tree City Travel Plaza at 1373 N. Michigan Avenue in Greensburg.  Investigators determined that the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu suffered a medical episode while driving shortly before 7 a.m.  The car went off the roadway, through a field, and went through the entrance of the gas station before coming to a stop at a register.   

The driver of the Malibu was seriously injured and taken to Decatur County Memorial Hospital, while an employee who had been standing at the register sustained minor injuries.

The Greensburg Fire Department said the building sustained major structural damage.  The accident is under investigation by the Greensburg Police Department.
