ELKHART COUNTY, IN - A multi-vehicle accident on State Road 15 in Elkhart County on Thursday left three people dead, according to WNDU and the Goshen News.
The incident took place just south of County Road 146 near New Paris shortly after 3 p.m. According to police, the driver of a southbound 2009 Dodge Journey turned left and crossed over the center line into the northbound lane.
The Dodge entered the path of a 2020 International LT 625 semi-tractor and was struck on the passenger side. Debris from the collision then struck a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica that was traveling behind the Dodge.
The driver and a passenger in the Dodge were ejected from the vehicle while another passenger was trapped inside. All three died at the scene. Only one of the victims was wearing a seat belt.
The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office said the three victims, ages 32, 28, and 24, were all from Mexico.
The driver of the semi-tractor, a 49-year-old man from Kentucky, and the Pacifica driver, a 34-year-old Warsaw woman, were not injured.
