Bicyclist dies after being struck by semi on NE side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A bicycle rider was killed in an accident on North Keystone Avenue in downtown Indianapolis on Thursday.

According to WTHR, a man was riding a bike near 32nd Street on the city's near northeast side when the incident took place at about 5:30 p.m.  Police said the rider, identified as 51-year-old Charles L. Moore, fell off the bicycle.

The driver of a semi-truck attempted to swerve out of the way but struck Moore, who died at the scene.  The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police officers.  

Indianapolis police are continuing to investigate the crash, which shut down Keystone Avenue in both directions.
