ROSWELL, NM - A driver was arraigned in court last week in connection with a car accident that occurred in Roswell January 7, according to the Roswell Daily Record.
The incident began when police say 34-year-old Savannah Romero of Roswell was spotted driving an SUV at a high rate of speed on Mountain View Road at 4:49 p.m. Romero allegedly failed to stop for a stop sign at an intersection and failed to comply with a police officer's attempted traffic stop.
When the officer set out in pursuit of the vehicle, Romero was weaving in and out of lanes of traffic, causing the officer to discontinue the chase.
After nearly hitting two other vehicles, the SUV collided with a Camaro at the intersection of South Lea Avenue and Jaffa Street, causing the Camaro to overturn. Romero and two women in the Camaro were injured in the crash.
At her arraignment in 5th Judicial District Court, Romero pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, and driving while license revoked.
