Driver arrested for DUI after death of pedestrian in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -  A pedestrian was struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver in Indianapolis Saturday night, according to a report by WISH.

Police were called to the scene in the area of West 30th Street and Kessler Boulevard North Drive on the city's west side shortly before 11 p.m.  An investigation indicated that a man was walking in the middle of the street and one witness reported swerving to avoid hitting him.  The pedestrian was then hit by a Dodge Durango and was pronounced dead. 

The driver stayed at the scene, and after being taken to a hospital for a blood draw, was arrested on a DUI charge.

The names of the victim and the driver were not released.
