CASS COUNTY, MI - A car wreck in Cass County on Saturday night sent a driver to the hospital, authorities said.
According to a WMMT report, the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded after the accident happened in the area of M-152 and Leach Road at about 11:15 p.m. An investigation determined that a driver lost control of his vehicle while traveling west on M-152. The vehicle crashed into a telephone pole and then a tree.
The motorist, identified as 34-year-old Justin Richter of Dowagiac, was extricated from the vehicle and hospitalized.
The sheriff's office said the investigation indicated that speed appeared to have been a contributing factor in the accident, but it was not yet clear whether drugs or alcohol played a role. Richter was wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident.
