Driver to be charged over ATV accident in SW Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - The driver of an all-terrain vehicle is facing charges over a crash that occurred in Albuquerque earlier this month, according to a report by KOB.

The accident happened June 11 in the vicinity of Benavides Road SW and Del Rey Road SW.  Police said the ATV driver was doughnuts in the area at about 10 p.m. and collided with an oncoming motorcycle.  The ATV flipped onto a curb and the driver was injured.  There was no information regarding the motorcyclist.

Investigators believe the collision was caused by speed and improper driving.  The ATV driver is expected to be charged with operating an off-highway vehicle on a city road.  Neither driver was wearing helmets or protective gear, according to police.
