Elkhart County deputy involved in collision on State Road 15

ELKHART COUNTY, IN - An Elkhart County deputy was involved in a collision with another vehicle early Sunday morning, reports WNDU.

The accident happened near the intersection of State Road 15 and County Road 146 at about 1 a.m. An investigation by the Indiana State Police found that an 18-year-old driving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a marked Dodge Durango driven by Patrolman Richard Jasinksi.

Jasinski was treated and released after being taken to an area hospital. The Chevrolet driver was pulled from the car and hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police are investigating the crash and said that alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor.
