Fatal accident shuts down portion of Interstate 465 south

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A fatal accident shut down a stretch of Interstate 465 in Indianapolis on Thursday night, according to WTHR.

At least one person was confirmed dead in the crash, which took place just before 7 p.m. on I-465 southbound near Interstate 70 on the city's east side. No details were released on the identity of the victim or what led to the incident.

The right lane of I-465 south was shut down for about two and a half hours while the scene was being cleared and investigated.
