BATESVILLE, IN - Indiana State Police said a portion of Interstate 74 was shut down due to a fatal accident Tuesday morning, reports WRTV.
Authorities responded to the scene in the westbound lanes of I-74 near Batesville at about 4:30 a.m. One person was killed, though no further details were released on the victim's identity or the circumstances of the crash.
Traffic on I-74 in the area was diverted to State Road 46 while the scene was investigated and cleared of debris. The interstate was shut down for over six hours. The North Huntersville Road overpass was also closed for investigation of the bridge pillars.
