MADISON, IN - A fire truck and a car were involved in a fatal head-on crash in Jefferson County on Saturday morning, Indiana State Police said.
According to a report by WTHR, the vehicles collided on Clifty Hollow Road on Hanover Hill in Madison at about 8:30 a.m. Investigators said a Hanover Fire Department truck was on its way to help a motorist when it collided with a car.
The driver of the car died at the scene and was identified as 44-year-old Terrie Cox of Milton, Kentucky.
State police are investigating the cause of the accident and at this point they do not think that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. Investigators said the fire truck was not responding to an emergency at the time.
The roadway was closed for several hours while Indiana State Police troopers worked at the scene.
