Hit-and-run crash at Elkhart County intersection injures driver

ELKHART COUNTY, IN - Authorities said a driver fled the scene after rear-ending another vehicle in Elkhart County on Thursday afternoon.

According to WBND, the driver of a Honda was going southbound on County Road 9 at about 3:40 p.m. and crashed into the back of a 2024 Hyundai Venue near County Road 26.  The driver of the Hyundai, 43-year-old John Simpson of Elkhart, told police he was stopped at the four-way stop at the intersection when his vehicle was sttruck.

Simpson, who was wearing his seat belt, was hospitalized with neck, back and leg pain.

He said the driver of the Honda fled the scene after the collision before police could get there.
