INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indiana State Police were responding to numerous vehicle accidents across the state on Monday as a strong winter storm moved across the region.
According to a post on X by ISP Sergeant John Perrine, as of 10:26 a.m. there had been 151 crashes in the Indianapolis district, 12 of which resulted in injuries. There were also 76 slideoffs, 103 motorists who needed assistance due to disabled or stuck vehicles, and 67 traffic hazards. Statewide, there were 259 crashes and 271 slideoffs.
At least eight inches of snow was reported in Indianapolis by noon on Monday, making for treacherous driving conditions on area roadways. A winter storm warning was in effect until 7 p.m.
