LAS CRUCES, NM - Police in Las Cruces have released details on a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred earlier this month, reports the Las Cruces Sun News.
It happened Dec. 3 on the 1900 block of East Lohman Avenue. Police said 60-year-old Kevin Taylor of Las Cruces was struck by an eastbound 2012 Chevrolet Impala at about 6 p.m. The driver told police they could not avoid Taylor after he attempted to dash across the roadway from the sidewalk. The driver's account was supported by witnesses.
Taylor died of his injuries Dec. 5 at a hospital in El Paso. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No charges or citations will be issued in the case, according to police. Investigators determined that speed and alcohol did not play a role in the incident.
