LAS CRUCES, NM - The victim of a fatal pedestrian accident in Las Cruces last month has now been identified, reports KTSM.
Las Cruces Police said the woman killed in the Dec. 29 incident was 38-year-old April Hernandez of Las Cruces.
An investigation determined that Hernandez was walking across South Solano Drive near California Avenue just before 6 p.m. that evening when she walked in front of traffic and was hit in the southbound lane by a Dodge Durango.
The driver of the Dodge, age 36, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No charges are expected in the case.
Police said the area does not have a marked crosswalk and it was dark at the time the accident occurred.
