Man arrested in hit-and-run that killed bicyclist in Curry County

CLOVIS, NM - A man is under arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in Curry County last week, the Amarillo Globe-News reports.

The Curry County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened Thursday on Curry Road K between Curry Road 7 and 8.  A woman was riding a bicycle there at about 7:48 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle and was found dead at the scene.  The victim was identified as 57-year-old Dawn Renee Dozier of Clovis.

The driver involved left the scene after the collision. An investigation led authorities to the suspected driver, who was identified as 43-year-old Fernando Chavez-Molina of Clovis.

He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving great bodily injury death, and was booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center where he was being held without bond.
