SANTA FE, NM - The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office released information regarding a pedestrian fatality that occurred Nov. 27, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.

A man in his mid 40s died after being hit by a vehicle while walking in a dark area on Opera Drive north of Santa Fe.  The sheriff's office said it believes that the victim's car had broken down, and he was in the middle of the road when he was struck.

Investigators said the man was wearing a dark clothing and there were no lights in the area.  The driver of the vehicle, heading northbound, did not see him until it was too late to avoid the collision.  The man's vehicle was found later with the hazard lights on along U.S. 84/285.
