GRANTS, NM - The New Mexico State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred last week in Cibola County.
According to the NMSP's news release, the accident involved a Commercial Motor Vehicle and happened Oct. 10 on Interstate 40 east of Grants at about 1:15 p.m.
The initial investigation found that a man was driving a 2012 CMV on I-40 near mile marker 90. The vehicle went off the roadway, rolled onto its side and came to a rest.
The driver, identified as 55-year-old Abuali Salah of Palos Hills, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 35-year-old male passenger in the CMV was flown to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.
