SUNLAND PARK, NM - Prosecutors in Dona Ana County said a man has pleaded guilty in connection with a fatal multi-vehicle crash that occurred on May 9, 2020.
According to a report by KFOX 14, Eric Solis was trying to elude law enforcement authorities as he drove a 2015 Ford Super Duty Truck. Investigators said Solis was driving at 95 miles an hour when he went through a red light at the intersection of State Road 273 and State Road 136 in Sunland Park.
Solis caused a crash that involved a total of four vehicles, including a Nissan Altima that was struck head-on. The driver of the Nissan, 32-year-old Danielle Perez of El Paso, was pronounced dead at the scene. Passengers from all of the vehicles were injured.
Solis, now 32, pleaded guilty to charges that included homicide by vehicle, great bodily harm by vehicle, driving while license suspended, and reckless driving. He faces up to 21 years in prison when he is sentenced at a later date, the Third Judicial District Attorney's Office said.
