ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A man has been sentenced in connection with a deadly crash that occurred in Albuquerque in September 2021, KRQE reports.
Julia Garcia Jr. of Roswell was charged after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a utility pole and flipped, killing his girlfriend 27-year-old Sarah Cardenas. Prosecutors said Garcia's blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit.
He was sentenced last week to eight years in prison, followed by five years of supervised probation and 100 hours of community service. In July, Garcia pleaded no contest to homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence.
