Man struck, killed by hit-and-run driver in Clovis

CLOVIS, NM - Police said a man was struck and killed in Clovis last month in what is being labeled as a hit-and-run incident, the Amarillo Globe-News reports.

Police officers and first responders were dispatched to the scene Dec. 30 in a field in the area of 14th Street and Sycamore Street.   They arrived at about 12:43 a.m. to find a man who had been injured.  The victim, identified as 24-year-old Matthew Gibbs, died after being taken to Plains Regional Medical Center.

Investigators with the police department's Major Crash Team determined that Gibbs had been struck by a driver who left the scene.  Anyone with further information on the incident was asked to contact the Clovis Police Department or Curry County Crime Stoppers.
