INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Authorities said a man trying to assist a stranded motorist in Indianapolis Tuesday night was fatally struck by a vehicle, according to WTHR.
The motorist's car had become disabled just before midnight along the ramp from Interstate 70 west to the Sam Jones Expressway. Indiana State Police said 22-year-old Justin Lavelle Dobbins responded to the scene and was about to help push the car further onto the shoulder when another driver struck the disabled car and Dobbins.
Dobbins was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. ISP does not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident, which shut down the I-70 ramp for about three hours.
