ROSWELL, NM - Police arrested a man who allegedly fled the scene of an accident in Roswell last month, the Roswell Daily News reports.
59-year-old Johnny Barela has been charged in connection with a collision with a motorcyclist that happened May 5 in the area of West Country Club Road and Washington Avenue.
Investigators said Barela made an improper lane change and crashed into the motorcycle rider, who was crossing the intersection. Barela drove off after the crash occurred, according to a criminal complaint. The motorcyclist suffered multiple injuries.
Barela was arrested last week on multiple criminal charges, including leaving the scene of an accident, great bodily harm or death, failure to give information and render aid, and driving without a license. He was released on his own recognizance following a court appearance on Monday.
