Motorist dies after colliding with semitractor-trailer in Roswell

ROSWELL, NM - Authorities said a driver attempting to elude police was involved in a fatal crash in Roswell last week.

According to the Roswell Daily Record, police attempted to stop 56-year-old Johnny Hernandez last Monday after seeing him drive a Cadillac recklessly and nearly cause an accident.

The driver did not comply with the traffic stop and pulled away, and a pursuit ensued.  The driver of the Cadillac continued until the vehicle collided with a semitractor-trailer crossing Sunset Avenue on the Relief Route, police said.

Hernandez was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.  The truck driver was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The Chaves County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the incident.  Our Albuquerque truck accident lawyer will update this news blog with any additional information as it comes to light.
