Multi-vehicle crash in Hamilton County sends 5 to hospital

HAMILTON COUNTY, IN - Police and first responders were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle wreck in Hamilton County on Friday afternoon.

A report by WXIN states that four vehicles were involved in the crash in the area of State Road 38 and Spring Mill Road near Sheridan.  Accordng to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, a truck was traveling eastbound at about 4:45 p.m. and crashed into the back of a car, then collided head-on with a westbound SUV.  A fourth vehicle was hit by flying debris from the car that was initially struck.

An adult and a juvenile were airlifted from the scene with serious injuries while three other people were transported with injuries that were not disclosed. The five injured victims were taken to Methodist Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital, and Riley Children’s Hospital.

The sheriff's office is investigating the cause of the crash, which shut down the intersection to traffic.
