TIJERAS, NM - The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office issued an urgent alert to drivers following an accident that happened during hazardous driving conditions on Sunday night.
In a post at 10:16 p.m., the BCSO said the crash involved multiple vehicles and occurred on Interstate 40 eastbound at Sedillo Hill Road. It happened during extreme ice and snow conditions as winter weather moved through the region and caused roadways to be treacherous. Emergency crews were at the scene responding to the incident.
Drivers were advised to be cautious, slow down, and consider alternate routes. On Monday, the New Mexico Department of Transportation reminded motorists that many roads remained slick and snow-covered. The NMDOT said people should avoid driving if possible.
Our car accident attorney in Albuquerque will continue to monitor this developing story and provide any additional information as it is released to the public.
