INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indiana State Police have released information regarding a fatal multi-vehicle crash that occurred on the northwest side of Indianapolis on Thursday night.
According to WISH, the incident happened on Interstate 465 near the West 82nd Street interchange shortly before 6:40 p.m. It involved four passenger vehicles and a semi-tractor-trailer. Investigators believe traffic had come to a halt on I-465 when the driver of an SUV crashed into the back of a car, causing a chain-reaction involving the three other vehicles.
One woman in the car was killed in the wreck. Two other people in the car were injured, one seriously while the other had minor injuries. I-65 was shut down in the area for at least four hours while emergency crews responded to the scene.
Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
