Multiple semi-trucks involved in crash on I-70 outside Greenfield

GREENFIELD, IN - Authorities said one driver was injured in a collision involving multiple semi-trucks in Hancock County on Saturday morning.

A report by WISH states that the accident occurred on Interstate 70 near Mount Comfort Road outside of Greenfield at about 5:20 a.m.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office, the incident began when the driver of a westbound semi pulling double trailers swerved to avoid another semi-truck and struck a concrete barrier wall, pushing it into the eastbound lanes.  The driver then swerved back and struck the vehicle he had been trying to avoid.

Two other semis also ended up being involved in the collision, with one of them rolling onto its side and catching fire.  One driver suffered minor injuries, while the other three were not hurt.

I-70 was shut down in both directions between Mount Comfort Road and IN 9 for over seven hours while emergency crews responded to the scene and cleaned up spills of oil and diesel.
