GRANTS, NM - New Mexico State Police said one person was killed and four others injured in a wreck in Cibola County last week.
The NMSP issued a news release on the incident that occurred Friday on Interstate 40 near mile marker 85 in Grants at about 9:45 a.m.
Investigators said a 26-year-old man was driving a Volvo Commercial Motor Vehicle east on I-40 and rear-ended an eastbound Freightliner CMV. The Volvo then crossed into the median and hit two westbound vehicles, an International CMV and a Cadillac.
A passenger in the Volvo, 22-year-old Adrian Leyva of Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Volvo, the driver of the International, and both occupants of the Cadillac were hospitalized with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. The driver and passenger of the Freightliner were not injured.
State Police are investigating the cause of the accident, our Albuquerque car accident attorney adds.
