The initial accident involved a semi-truck and a pickup truck.  A report by KOB said the medical helicopter had arrived to take the pickup truck driver to the hospital.  At about 8:50 a.m., a semi-truck had a brake failure, went through a roadblock and hit one of the rotor blades on the helicopter.  No one was injured in the second incident.

The pickup driver was transported to a hospital by an ambulance.

Highway 60 was closed in both directions just east of Highway 47 and drivers were advised to expect a prolonged road closure.  New Mexico State Police are investigating the incident.
