News: Man pleads no contest in crash that injured Albuquerque police officer

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - A man took a plea deal in a crash that injured an Albuquerque police officer last year, according to a report by KRQE.

28-year-old Vaughn Stands was charged with drunk driving for the incident that occurred in June 2022 at Eagle Ranch Road and Irving Boulevard.

Stands told police he was driving home when he argued with his female passenger, and she grabbed the wheel of their truck. The vehicle crashed into a vehicle driven by the police officer, who suffered a broken leg and wrist.

Stands pleaded no contest to causing great bodily harm by reckless driving and faces up to 18 months behind bars when he is sentenced, our Albuquerque car accident attorney adds.
