INDIANAPOLIS, IN - One person died following a car accident near an intersection in Indianapolis, WTHR reports.
The crash happened Wednesday morning on the city's west side at about 7:45 a.m. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said a driver lost control while heading east near North Country Club and West 21st Street.
The car crashed into a utility pole. A passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital. Police said it is not yet clear whether the person's death resulted from the crash or from a medical emergency. The victim's name was not immediately released.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash, while the Marion County Coroner's Office will determine the victim's cause of death. The driver of the car had blood drawn at an area hospital.
