Pedestrian struck and killed in Indianapolis hit-and-run incident

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Police responded to the scene of a fatal pedestrian crash on the southeast side of Indianapolis Tuesday morning.

A report by WTHR said that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the vicinity of Wildwood Drive and Southeastern Avenue.

Officers arrived at about 6:15 a.m. to find the victim dead at the scene. The incident was reported to be an apparent hit-and-run. Drivers and pedestrians were advised to avoid the area as the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was conducting an investigation.

Traffic was expected to be impacted in the area for several hours.
