Pickup truck crash in Greenfield leaves 1 teen dead, 1 injured

GREENFIELD, IN - The Hancock County Sheriff's Department released details regarding a fatal accident that occurred in Greenfield on Sunday afternoon.

According to a WRTV report, deputies responded to the area of County Road 300 North and County Road 100 after a report of the incident at about 2:40 p.m.

An investigation determined that an 18-year-old man was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck when the vehicle hydroplaned and went off the road.  When the driver over-corrected, the truck crashed into two trees.

A 17-year-old girl who was a passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver, Cody Mastin of Greenfield, was hospitalized in critical condition.

Authorities said the two teens were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the wreck.
