ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, IN - Police were called to the scene of a fatal crash on State Road 2 in St. Joseph County on Sunday morning.
According to a WSBT report, the victim was identified as 75-year-old John D. Ulmer of South Bend. Police said Ulmer was driving a Chevy SUV westbound at about 10 a.m. when he lost control while approaching the Bypass interchange.
The vehicle went into the grass median, struck a concrete supporting wall under the bridge, and ended up in the northwest cloverleaf of the interchange. Ulmer was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the wreck.
