SOUTH BEND, IN - The South Bend Police Department said a truck accident shut down a portion of the U.S. 20 Bypass during Tuesday morning's rush hour.
In a news release, police said the eastbound lanes of the Bypass were closed from Michigan Street to Ironwood Drive after a semi-truck hit the guard rail at the bridge at Ironwood at about 1:25 a.m. No injuries were reported.
Police said the towing company was unable to move the semi until daylight, so drivers were advised to expect the road closure to continue during the morning commute.
Police cautioned motorists that roads were in poor shape Tuesday morning, with slick spots observed throughout the city.
