INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Pollice and emergency crews were called to the scene of an accident at an Indianapolis school early Sunday morning, WXIN reported.
According to police, a driver went off the road while going down a hill on westbound Stop 12 Road at about 1:20 a.m. The vehicle crashed into the northeast corner of Winchester Village Elementary School.
No one was in the building at the time. The driver and passenger in the vehicle were not seriously injured. Investigators believe distracted driving may have been a contributing factor.
A restoration crew and building maintenance worked to secure the building and clean up the damage so that school could open on time Monday morning. The section of the building that was struck does not house any instructional spaces or areas used by students.
