Woman, 20, struck by vehicle while riding e-bicycle in Elkhart

ELKHART COUNTY, IN - A bicycle rider was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Elkhart Sunday morning, according to a WBND report.

Police were called to the intersection of C.R. 6 and Frederic Drive after being notified of the incident shortly before 7 a.m.

An investigation found that a 20-year-old woman was riding an e-bicycle westbound along the eastbound shoulder of the roadway.  She was hit by a Nissan Rogue going east on C.R. 6.  The Nissan driver, a 45-year-old woman, reported she was making a turn into the driveway of a bakery when she collided with the bicyclist.

The bike rider was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.  No further details were released on his condition.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and said the driver stayed at the scene to cooperate with officers.
