BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI - Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Benton Township on Monday night.
According to WBND, the victim was a 74-year-old woman. She was trying to walk across at the intersection of E. Napier Avenue and Milton Street at about 8:30 p.m. when she was hit by a car. The victim, whose name was not released, died after being taken to an area hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, 68-year-old Benton Harbor City Commissioner Ron Singleton, was not injured in the incident. He cooperated with investigators.
The Benton Charter Township Police Department responded to the scene with assistance from the Berrien County Sheriff's Department Accident Reconstruction Team.
